Are You Using The Resources You Already Have To Promote Your Business?

With so much attention being given to social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, and others, it can be easy to overlook some other valuable resources that we all possess that can help us get the word out about our businesses. Since I’m a firm believer in “Stretching A Dollar”, I look for FREE or low-cost ways to promote my business. I read an interesting book by Andrea Nierenberg titled Million Dollar Networking: The Sure Way To Find, Keep And Grow Your Business that made an interesting point: Each person knows at least 250. Even though we network online, we still need to network face-to-face. When we meet someone for the first time, we have the potential to get to know 250 other people that this person knows. Wow! I never thought about it in those terms. Are we really building our network the way we should by forming good relationships? When was the last time you invited a business associate to lunch or coffee?

To find other resources that you can use to promote your business for FREE or low-cost, ask yourself these questions:

  • What organizations do I belong to that could help promote my business?
  • What organizations do my potential customers belong?
  • What tools do I possess that will help me promote my message?
  • What magazines or newspapers do my target audience read?
  • What radio stations do my target audience listen to?

Take a look at the resources you already have and see how you can put those to work to help promote your business. Feel free to share some of those tips with me and other StretchingYourCash readers! We’d love to hear them.
